The Carlton House a Houston tradition . . .

The Carlton House began as the brainstorm of Carlton Fuller.
Mr. Fuller opened the store in its existing location in 1956 with the backing of Edward Black. In 1959 Mr. Fuller passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Black, a successful insurance salesman with no retail experience, stepped in to run the new store. Eddie, as friends and customers would call him, expanded the store beyond china and crystal. He opened Carlton House linens on the Westheimer side of the shopping center and as more space became available, so the Carlton House would grow. The linen store would eventually move to its current space.

In the 1970's Eddie met a young belle named Virginia. The two married and Virginia moved from Atlanta to Houston to begin her life with Eddie. The two worked side by side until 2001 when the Carlton House was sold to its new owners Laura Paine Gilbert and Katherine Moore Jones.

The Tradition Continues. . .
